Childrens Play Group
From the beginning of 2002 I was going to a play group. It is called 'Olleke Bolleke' and it also is in Strijen. I was on a waiting list so I couldn't go there at the time I became 2½. But they moved to a larger building with more rooms, so after the Christmas holidays of 2001 I could go there. I enjoyed it very much and I went there every Tuesday afternoon and Friday morning. In June 2002 they also opened a large new playground. A part of it is shielded off that can be used by all of the nippers when the weather is fine. A few of my friends that live close to me in our street, Robin and Charlotte, also went to pre-school there and I liked playing with them, at home as well as at the play group. But Friday the 14th of March 2003 was my last day there as I was about to go to primary school. More about that later on. Below you can see some photos of my goodbye party.

Goodbye to all my dear friends and teachers of the playgroup, see you all later!
I'm going to primary school
On Tuesday March 18 2003 I went to primary school for the first time. My school is called 'Patrijspoort' (Dutch word for port-hole) and it is also located in Strijen. Before I became four years of age I did a two-week 'trial-run' (Sorry, I didn't invent it). The first week I went there for one afternoon and one morning and the second week for two afternoons and one morning. Since my fourth birthday I'm going to school for five days a week. The first day I went there, I immediately liked it very much. I also met other children that I'd seen before at the children's playground, so I didn't feel alone. And I must say that I still like it. My best girlfriend at school is Savanne, we play together a lot. On Monday 25th of May 2003 I went on my first school trip. Quite an event. We went to the Efteling, a famous Dutch fairy- and amusement park. I also brought my little camera with me. The pictures can be seen on my Efteling photopage.
My first swimming-diploma
On Thursday the 30th of March 2003, just a few days
before my fourth birthday, I managed to obtain my first swimming diploma, the 'Puppy 1 diploma'.
I'm very proud of it. I will now tell you what I had to do to get it. It is hard to read, but it is also in Dutch so I will
translate it into English.
- standing upright under the shower, eyes open
- walk a few meters through the water, forwards as well as backwards (without help in shallow water)
- fall and get up again over a distance of about 5 meters
- take a mouthful of water and spit it out like a fountain
- float on my back, wearing a T-shirt
- move along a bar for a few meters (feet may not touch the bottom)
- blow a balloon along the surface for a few meters
My parents and grand parents were also there. They took some pictures of me in the swimming pool.
Musical performance at school
In the first weeks of 2004 we had at school a project about music. We ended this project on February 19 and 20 with a performance in our school. There were a lot of parents and other spectators listening to all our musical efforts. Together we had a lot of fun. Mama took some pictures during this event and if you like you may see them here.

Mijn first real swimming-diplomas (Diploma A and B)
On Saturday June 12 2004 I managed to obtain my first real swimming-diploma (this is called 'Diploma A'
in the Netherlands). The first one (see above) was more for fun. I had to do a lot of exercises and all went very well. My father, mother and grandfather were all in the swimming pool
to watch me. After an hour or so I finally got my diploma that you can see to the left. Papa and mama took some pictures of me during this event.
And on Saturday 29th of January 2005 I received my second swimming diploma (called
'Diploma B'). This time mama joined me in the pool and she also got a (fun) diploma for that. Papa and my grand parents watched us swimming. To the right you see my
2nd swimming-diploma. Also now there are some pictures of this event present on this page.
